LEADING LADY ALEXANDRA BURKE CELEBRATES SUCCESS WITH HER OWN SEAT IN GRAND THEATRE AUDITORIUM!
Published : 01/Mar/2017
This week, Alexandra Burke celebrated unprecedented success for an individual performer in Musical Theatre at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.
In recognition of her significant contribution to local audience numbers in recent years, Alexandra was presented with a seat plaque in the theatre auditorium. Between The Bodyguard across two weeks in 2015 and Sister Act this week, over 24,000 people have enjoyed two of the most successful touring Musical Theatre productions in Grand Theatre history.
Alexandra Burke shot to fame on The X Factor, winning the fifth series in 2008. In theatre, she has played Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard in London’s West End and Wolverhampton and is currently playing the role of Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act.
Alexandra said; “thank you so much to the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton – I’ve got a name on my seat and I’m so happy! I wish I could sit here and watch the show… I can’t, but it’s great!”
Seat plaques are a new way of recognising or celebrating people, stories and occasions at the Grand Theatre. Naming auditorium seats or bricks in the theatre’s Encore Lounge are a unique way to support the Grand Theatre, whilst at the same time, shining a spotlight on a special message for yourself, a friend or family member and become part of the fabric of our 123 year old theatre.
Fundraising Manager, John Harrison said; “by sponsoring a seat or naming a brick, you can help the Grand to offer a superb variety of world-class theatre to a developing audience, as well as support our important work with the local community through our education, outreach and access programmes.”
