THERE’S STARS IN THEIR EYES FOR FRIENDS OF THE GRAND WITH BRAND NEW CURTAIN.
Published : 28/Oct/2016
The Friends of the Grand have provided Wolverhampton Grand Theatre with a brand new star cloth for use in its own productions.
The first use of the star cloth was during the Grand Theatre’s Gala Night, a celebratory performance that marked the re-opening of the venue following a six-week refurbishment process over the course of the summer.
The star cloth curtain itself is has over 2,500 individual LED lights, that give an effect of stars when viewed from the auditorium. The lights are fully controllable by the tech crew and can be dimmed, brightened or illuminate in a series of patterns.
The new curtain will be used in a variety of forthcoming venue-produced productions and can also be used by companies who privately hire the theatre, such as the many dance schools who give thousands of children each year the opportunity to perform on a professional stage.
Previously, the Friends of the Grand provided a new Sound Desk and will soon be sponsoring sixteen25, a new youth membership scheme that offers younger theatregoers a more accessible platform to tickets including priority booking and encouragement to get involved with the theatre.
The Friends of the Grand scheme is available to join at any time, either via the website grandtheatre.co.uk or by visiting or calling the Box Office on 01902 42 92 12. Benefits for members include priority notice and booking periods of most productions, savings on show tickets.
