ASSISTANCE DOGS

Assistance Dogs are welcome in the auditorium. They must remain with and be the sole responsibility of the owner at all times. Please ensure you inform the Box Office if you attend on bringing your assistance dog with you. This will allow them to allocate the most appropriate seating for you.

AUDIO DESCRIPTION

Audio Description is description and commentary of action provided via our MobileConnect system. This service is for our visually impaired patrons. The commentary is live and does not happen when the cast are speaking – only in between dialogue. 15 minutes before the performance starts the describer commences an introduction that covers cast descriptions, character relationships and details about costumes and set.

The free app, MobileConnect from Sennheiser, streams audio content via WiFi live and in great quality directly to your personal smartphone. Using WiFi, the new system is more reliable than the previous one, which used infared technology. It is fully compatible with IOS and Android accessibility modes where visual impariment support is required. You can download the app to your own smartphone, and we have iPods preloaded with the app for those without smartphones.

For Audio Described performances we can also provide Sennheiser headsets and necklaces for those patrons who would prefer this options. The necklaces are suitable for users of hearing aids. Our system is compatible with most aids.

The MobileConnect system works equally well across our entire auditorium meaning patorns are able to choose where they would prefer to sit without this impacting the quality of of the service they receive. Please ensure you book your headset along with your ticket as these shows can be busy and we only have a limited number of devices in house. Please be aware that some seats are held off for those members of our Access Regsiter who require to be seated a certain distance from the stage in order to gain the best experience. If you are a memebr of our Access Regsiter and wish to use this service, on booking your tickets please let our Box Office staff know to ensure they seat you appropriately. Please note these tickets are sold on a first come first serve basis.

TOUCH TOURS

Alongside an Audio Described performance we will offer a Touch Tour. This is a guided tour led by our audio describer that will allow you to see and experience the stage and set up close, exploring and touching set pieces, props and costumes. Touch Tours are on average one hour before the performance and a free service for our visually impaired patrons. However please do book your place in advance as places are limited for health and safety reasons. If you have any mobility issues, please let us know in advance as the accessibility of stage varies by performance.

Should the timing of the Touch Tour be changed for any reason a member of the thatre staff will contact those poeple who have prebooked their place in advance.
