NEWS: WE'RE GOING PLASTIC FREE

Today, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre announced plans to drastically reduced the amount of plastic used within the company with an aim to be plastic free by 2022. Other environmentally friendly strategies will also be rolled out over the next five years.

Over the last twelve months departments within the theatre have already made significant changes to reduce non-recyclable waste. The Front of House areas use cardboard straws and cups for hot drinks and all glass products are recycled. The administration teams use recycle bins for all cardboard and paper waste.

Other departments are now looking at ways to improve which will be taken to the senior team for approval. A study is also being conducted to see how the lighting structure can be changed which may result in the theatre investing in new equipment but would save money over a longer period on costs.

CEO and Artistic Director Adrian Jackson said, “As a company we will do everything we can to reduce non-recyclable products used within the building. There is also a lot we can do within our infrastructure to not only help the environment but also reduce our costs.”
