Wolverhampton Grand Theatre continues to build on its reputation for high quality comedy with a range of award-winning comedians, set to take to the stage with side-splitting performances – and if these three comedy giants are anything to go by, 2020 is set to be rib-ticklingly funny!
Acclaimed comedian Adam Kay shares entries from his diaries as a junior doctor in the “electrifying” (Guardian) evening of stand-up and music, ADAM KAY – THIS IS GOING TO HURT (Sunday 22 March). A sell-out hit at Edinburgh Fringe (in 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019), Soho Theatre (2017), on UK tours and multiple West End runs, the accompanying book, This is Going to Hurt is a Sunday Times bestseller and is currently being turned into a major BBC series. Copies of the book will be available to purchase and for signature after the performance. Book now for ADAM KAY – THIS IS GOING TO HURT.
STEWART LEE: SNOWFLAKE TORNADO (Sunday 31 May) is a double-bill of two new 60 minute sets, back to back nightly from “the world’s greatest living stand-up” (Times). TORNADO questions Stew’s position in the comedy marketplace after Netflix mistakenly lists his show as “reports of sharks falling from the skies are on the rise again. Nobody on the Eastern Seaboard is safe.” SNOWFLAKE questions Stew’s worth in a society demolishing the liberal values he has been keen to espouse in a fairy-tale landscape of winter wonder. Book now for STEWART LEE: SNOWFLAKE TORNADO.
JIMMY CARR: TERRIBLY FUNNY (Sunday 22 November) is the latest show from the “comedy hero for our times” (Guardian), containing jokes about all kinds of terrible things. Terrible things that might have affected you or people you know and love. But they’re just jokes – they are not the terrible things. Having political correctness at a comedy show is like having health and safety at a rodeo. Now you’ve been warned, buy a ticket. Book now for JIMMY CARR: TERRIBLY FUNNY.
