JUDGES AND OPENING ACT FOR JUST NAACH ANNOUNCED!

The judges and opening act for Wolverhampton Grand Theatre’s premiere South Asian dance competition, JUST NAACH WOLVERHAMPTON, have been announced ahead of the live final on Saturday 1 October.

The live celebration of South Asian Dance in Wolverhampton and The Black Country will be hosted by previously announced BBC’s Qasa Alom. The exciting panel of judges are Artistic Director of award-winning Jaivant Patel Dance – Jaivant Patel, Director of Operations and Development at Creative Black Country Sajida Carr, Freelance Broadcaster Satnam Rana and Radio XL Presenter, Manpreet Darroch.

The opening act will be Wolverhampton based BACK2BACK. BACK2BACK are a band of brothers on a mission to fearlessly explore the depths of imagination and artistic purpose. With a total of 8 members, including individuals who specialize in other skills besides dance, they are known for their signature intricate choreography style and creative storytelling through a fusion of street dance, hip hop and bhangra. Their shared objective is to cultivate youth, passion and energy whilst supporting each other to reach our highest collective potential, and to positively impact the world with our time and abilities in the most entertaining way possible.

On the evening, a range of local dynamic dance acts will compete to be crowned Wolverhampton’s first South Asian Dance Champion, Jodi Dancers, Colton Hills Community School, Alicia Paul, Avneet Kaur, Dancing Queens, Ultimate Bangra, Bollywood Dreams Dance, Aaja Nachle Let’s Dance and Sohniya Punjabna Group.

JUST NAACH WOLVERHAMPTON will be a thrilling evening for all involved. Cheer for your favourite act and find out who will be crowned Wolverhampton’s first South Asian Dance champion!

Bollywood, Bhangra, Regional Folk, Indian Classical and South Asian Fusion are just some of the styles that make up the wonderful world of South Asian Dance. The winning performer or group will win 50 tickets to the pantomime Aladdin at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre in December as well as a winner’s trophy.

Associate Director for Audiences & Development at the Grand Theatre, Vicky Price said; “Wolverhampton has a vibrant culture and at the Grand Theatre we celebrate the talents of our local communities. We look forward to showcasing the best in South Asian Dance from Wolverhampton and Black Country talent in the inaugural event, Just Naach. We are excited to welcome performers and audiences, new and existing, to Grand Theatre this October.”
