CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF BILSTON OPERATIC!
What do 100 years of Bilston Operatic and GUYS & DOLLS have in common?
They both know a thing or two about taking a chance. A century ago, Bilston Operatic was founded. Around the same time, Damon Runyon’s colourful world of New York gamblers, dreamers and hustlers was taking shape and our story is set.
Now, as we celebrate our centenary, we’re bringing Frank Loesser’s much-loved musical to the Dormston Theatre — complete with romance, comedy, high-stakes gambling and characters who are prepared to risk it all. Nathan Detroit is fighting to keep his floating crap game afloat, while Miss Adelaide has been waiting fourteen years for him to finally make an honest woman of her. Meanwhile, legendary gambler Sky Masterson accepts a seemingly impossible bet: winning over strait-laced missionary Sarah Brown. Because sometimes, the biggest gamble of all is love.
From the bright lights of Times Square to the hot nights of Havana, GUYS & DOLLS delivers unforgettable songs including Luck Be a Lady, Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat, Adelaide’s Lament, If I Were a Bell and Guys and Dolls.

First opening on Broadway in 1950, this timeless classic continues to prove that great musical theatre never goes out of style. The much-loved 1955 film starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra brought GUYS & DOLLS to an even wider audience, while Nicholas Hytner’s acclaimed 2023 West End immersive revival introduced it to a new generation.
Now, audiences at the Dormston Theatre can enjoy their own chance to experience these unforgettable characters, much-loved songs and timeless story.
